Child Safety Week is a people-led movement to raise awareness and encourage collective action towards addressing the issue of Child Sexual Abuse. An entire week, in the month of November, is dedicated towards highlighting the importance of this issue through conversations and events for child safety. Arpan launched this movement last year and through the week we saw 123 organizations come together to drive change. Over 90,000 pledges were taken and appeals were made for child safety. 196 activities like rallies, awareness sessions on Child Sexual Abuse, poster making, etc. took place during Child Safety Week and the digital engagement reached over 600,000 people. This year, Child Safety Week's objective is to break the taboo around conversations on Child Sexual Abuse and make such conversations mainstream through various digital media. We believe that each of us as an individual or an organization can lend our voices and use our collective power to "Keep Children Safe from Sexual Abuse". We urge you to participate in Child Safety Week 2020.

The Showcase

Rage rhetoric to responsibility
This painting is a symbolic representation of abandoning the viciousness and returning to the basic tenets of dignity and courtesy, the essence of spiritual process is inclusively in time -  to listen without being reactive.
Truth of beauty and the beauty of truth
Beauty reconciles the many facets and faces of truth. Beauty is another word for harmony the seamless conjoining of seeming opposite lights and shades, sound and silence; harmony reveals the underlying unity of such polarities neither of which could co-exist without the other.

The texture represents the melange of emotions one experiences at the river banks of Ganges. There is an awakening and attainment of new information while at the same time, we get answers to a lot of questions about the past.

This artwork represents stagnant waters reflecting growth and life. Both growth and life, happen simultaneously and though there is so much activity; the world appears to be on a stand-still in the larger spectrum. One cannot occur without the other.
Blurred Lines
We always want to understand ourselves - who we are, what we want; trying to search for deeper meaning; and most of us find  it but not completely and thus it is a kind of blur while we keep peeling our each layer to understand the deeper insights.

About the Artist

"I believe in going with the flow; of seeing the unseen and touching the untouched."
Kirthi Shetty is a self taught artist, contemporary in style using mixed media and has a distinctive practice of using textures in the art work like typography, calligraphy, maps, decoupaged etc. Strong bold yet minimal strokes bring out the expressive communication the protagonist in the art work denotes. Spirituality and women characters play a pivotal role in Kirthi’s paintings.

I also do have a Curious Mind, Constantly enquiring and discovering not ensnared by established theories formulas dogmas or belief

I avoid Calcification of the truth vehemently these eventually turn in to a belief

I want a richness of experience, not just a mere existence

I have lived a protected life not gained experience in many a stratum in life

I want to acquire a richness in texture

I am spiritual by nature

My silence remains with me as a deep substratum to my being

Silence is the music of wisdom

I am slow cause I want to capture everything

Slow is the counter-revolution to our obsession with speed

I set my own speed.

I exist in the world and yet beyond it.
